Let's face it, Buffalo Bills fans. The bounces of the pigskin just haven’t gone our way in the modern millennium. For a fan base that grew accustomed to perennial success throughout most of the 1990s, the performances that Bills teams have put on in recent years have fallen far short of established standards and expectations. But the pass is indeed in the past, and the future is relatively bright in Buffalo as the team prepares to tackle a challenging 2015-2016 Bills NFL Schedule.
I know Buffalo Bills fans have heard this one before, but there are plenty of legitimate reasons to be excited about the upcoming season. Brand-new head coach Rex Ryan has already brought swagger and attitude into Western New York that hasn’t been seen since the days of Marv Levy.
The team traded a key defensive player for running back LeSean "Shady" McCoy. The 26-year-old back has already set a collection of rushing records for the Philadelphia Eagles organization, and it is clear that the Bills have their best backfield weapon since the days of Thurman Thomas. 2014 first rounder Sammy Watkins will be a year older and wiser after an impressive rookie campaign.
As a result of these developments, a number of home games at Ralph Wilson Stadium have been ramped up in importance and popularity. The Bills will begin with consecutive home games against the Colts and Patriots, meaning that they have one of the most daunting starts in all of the NFL. After a dozen other challenging road and home games, the team will finish up in Orchard Park in Week 16 and Week 17 with games against the Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets. Many people in Buffalo have already circled the final week matchup against the Jets on their calendar, including head coach Rex Ryan.
