American singer-songwriter and producer Ben Folds will commence a solo tour following the 2016 - 2017 tour for his band Ben Folds Five. The rock singer has released 12 shows for February and March of 2017 playing shows in cities like Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Folds intends to include a Master Class program which features a Q&A session led by a local music educator as well as including a meet and greet/photo opportunity.
Ben Folds gained his fame as the frontman for the alternative rock band Ben Folds Five. The band released their debut self-titled album in 1995 followed by their second album, Whatever and Ever Amen, in 1997. Their second album was the bands first to to rank on the charts and eventually became certified platinum. After the band split up in 2000, Ben Folds began a career as a solo artist and released three albums; the first in 2001 titled Rockin' the Suburbs, the second in 2005 called Songs for Silverman, and the third in 2008 titled Way to Normal. Ben Folds Five eventually regrouped and released their first album in 13 years in 2012 titled the Sound of the Life of the Mind. The new album peaked at number 10 on the US charts making it the bands best ranking album ever.
